Overview

The Department of Periodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry offers a 36-month advanced education comprehensive course of study in clinical and didactic periodontics.

Students completing the program earn a certificate in Periodontology and a Master of Science in Dentistry degree. Students must complete the requirements for the master’s degree prior to being awarded the certificate. The course of study satisfies the requirements for eligibility for the American Board of Periodontology.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.

Our mission

The periodontics graduate program’s primary mission is to produce highly qualified periodontists who will provide comprehensive state-of-the-art periodontal care to their patients. The secondary mission is to develop adults who will contribute to the profession through research and service.
